I got started in photography as a way to capture special moments spent with friends. I post these on Flickr and now Prim feed. I love the rich diversity of people who I meet in Second Life and the creative way they present themselves. Sometimes when I’m visiting a sim, I may see someone who I find especially interesting, and I’ll stop to ask if I can take their picture. Most everyone is happy to allow me to do that and I have made several friends this way.
Over time, as I met other photographers, I became more interested in the art of photography, and I learned some editing techniques from them. I do very little editing of my work, but I do try to pay attention to the lighting which makes a huge difference when creating a portrait.

Hello Lynx i am one of the team Members here at Monocle Man . Managers
could please tell me
this for Monocle Mans blog
for the top 3 winners
Tell us about your winning photo in your own words please
I was thinking about a vintage picture to join in. When i tried one on my many outfits, i discovered the one with the scarf and it reminded me of the movie Oppenheimer. I knew i had some kind of atomic bomb in my messy inventory too. All this combined with a nice school backdrop and a old hat made me do a nice pose and voila.
It took me a while to make the pose perfect. pity there is no face resemblance lol
Do you do photos in rl as well?
No, i don't but i would like to. maybe in the future i am planning to take some real nature pictures and edit them. but for now i can't seem to find the time to do it.
How did you learn the Basics in Photography?
Just by trying hard. I asked some advice from people here in second life. I started checking there angles and what they where using to make a wonderful picture. I followed hundreds of people on flickr, who i considered better then me, and i embraced criticism so i could improve.
The hard part was photoshop. I learned the basics with youtube movies and a short entroduction manual.
I know only the basics, but with the help of other editors i can combine different filters and lights to get that (perfect shot)
Do you use any wind lights in second life?
It depends of the mood and what kind of picture. it happens when i take a landscape, but i use different filters to change sky's and lights with some editors outside second life.
I love to give a little magic touch to a picture.
Who do you look up to in picture art SL/RL?
Like i said before, i follow hundreds of people who i consider equal or better then me here in second life.
There are so many good Artists here.
I have some favorites like the all mighty Skip Staheli, Bo Zano, Panda Banana, Roy Mildor, Hilaire Baumont and offcourse skippy :)
But watch my Flickr Gallery's to discover more lovely and amazing artists.
Would you like to do a Art exhibit at Monocle Man one day?

About
I embarked on my extensive virtual journey in Second Life as a photographer in 2009.
My primary motivation is to share the richness of creations from various sims, encompassing all their aspects. Throughout my travels, I encountered numerous individuals from around the globe who shared their backgrounds, passions, and interests with me.
I am exploring the possibilities offered by various tools, which have helped me enhance my captures. Through editing, I strive to imbue a personal touch and feeling into my work. I frequently experiment with color effects, and more recently, I have been focusing on showcasing details by working with high-resolution photos.

Short bio:
I started my first steps in photography inside SL without any former RL or SL experience. Photography for me was the means to create memories of all the places I've been, creating my own personal travel book and populate my feed with destinations. Landscapes and the creativity of people and sim owners was a big inspiration for me.
As time went by, I started to experiment more with the tools provided by the viewer as well as with angles and filters. I was also lucky to meet people involved with the art that gave me some very helpful tips and to discover more ways to improve on it and make my photos more lively. Over the past two years, photography became a real passion and found myself to devote more time to it to the point that I decided to share it publicly and host my creations on my own gallery, one I hope you will visit and enjoy my photo art as much as I creating it. Quote i found for this lovely photo
i truly love this photo.
My Second Life adventure began in 2010, and is divided into two phases, 2010-2014 and December, 2020 to current. Between the two phases, I left SL for about six years with no intention of ever returning. In late 2020, I decided to login and see if there was anything left in SL for me.
Flying over the States this Lovely photo is called
The early SL years for me were much like anyone else, a bit of building, a bit of socializing, some shopping. The most enjoyable times I had were performing erotic readings live in voice at several venues.
long train to nowhereThere is one thing I must say in preface to my SL photography journey that follows. Firstly, I'm a writer, not a photographer. I can look in the mirror and comfortably admit that I will never achieve greatness in the field of photography. I am in unbridled awe of the magnificent talent that RL and SL photographers possess, and I'm just thrilled that these masters let a novice like me play in their back garden from time to time.
When I returned to SL in late 2020, things were different, and I had to relearn everything. In 2021, I found Flickr and was amazed at the beautiful images that others had been creating in SL for many years. Of course, I had absolutely no idea how these images were created. I asked questions and watched videos in an attempt to learn the magic of SL photography - it was challenging because I was late to the game that everyone already knew how to play. Additionally, a [former] friend was quite critical of my initial photo attempts, and, after several months, I quit. I felt like I’d never improve and just gave up, the cycle of attempting and quitting repeated several times over more than a year. Finally, in July, 2023, I decided to focus on improving for myself, regardless of whether anyone liked my photos or not. I moved to a new Flickr account and began posting photos without scrutiny. It took me hours to take the photos, select the best, decide how to edit, and post on Flickr. I was up until midnight several nights, then getting up for work at 5am the next morning. My expectations were low, I had to assume that everyone on Flickr would think that my photos were as crappy as my ex-friend had said. But, something amazing happened, over the days and weeks I’ve received Flickr faves and follows, and some nice comments that gave me enough confidence to continue my journey.
Let it Snow this wonderful photo is calledAnyone who has seen my Flickr account will tell you I haven't settled on a personal style, and I'm fine with that - I may never have a defined style. The way my photography improves is little by little, then all at once - like the gradual slipping and then massive jerks of tectonic plates. I love monochrome and color, landscape and portrait, nature and street, closeup and wide angle. One thing I know for sure is that I enjoy taking photos, and I don't want to ever stop improving or learning new techniques. My goal with every photo I take is for the viewer to FEEL full-on, in your face, emotion - Passion!
I'm overjoyed that my amazing friend, Kap, surprised me with an invitation to debut my virtual photography at his gallery in early 2024. I'm in debt to those who have mentored, supported, and encouraged me on my SL photography journey, and my way of paying that forward is to openly share knowledge and encourage others.
