A ship's wheel, also known as the helm, is a steering mechanism used to control the direction of a ship or boat. It's a large, typically circular wheel connected to the rudder via a system of cables or gears, allowing the helmsman to steer the vessel. Modern ships may use remote controls or other systems to operate the rudder, but the wheel remains a symbol of maritime tradition.

☆✼★━━━Captain Of The Titanic  And History  ━★✼☆

The RMS Titanic, a British luxury passenger liner, sank on its maiden voyage after hitting an iceberg on April 14, 1912. The ship, built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast, Ireland, and operated by White Star Line, was designed to be "practically unsinkable" due to watertight compartments. However, the collision ruptured these compartments, leading to the ship's sinking.

Edward John Smith RD RNR was a British sea captain and naval officer. In 1880, he joined the White Star Line as an officer, beginning a long career in the British Merchant Navy. Smith went on to serve as the master of numerous White Star Line vessels.

Smith served as captain of the ocean liner Titanic, and perished along with 1,510 others when she sank on her maiden voyage.

Nov 12, 2020 — No one knows exactly where Captain E.J. Smith was at 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 1912. But witnesses said he appeared on the bridge of the .. Titanic.

                                 。☆✼★━Pirates History Facts    ━★✼☆

Piracy, the act of attacking and looting ships, has a long and varied history, dating back to ancient times. The "Golden Age of Piracy," from roughly 1650 to 1730, saw the rise of infamous pirates like Black beard and a surge in piracy in the Caribbean. Pirates, often from diverse backgrounds, were drawn to the promise of adventure, wealth, and a chance to escape societal constraints.

                              。☆✼★━Gold on ships  found   ━★✼☆

Several sunken ships have been discovered in recent years, including those carrying substantial amounts of gold. For example, a Spanish galleon, San José, is estimated to have been carrying over $20 billion worth of gold, silver, and gems when it sank. Another notable find was the Bom Jesus, a Portuguese vessel that sank in the Namibian desert and was found to contain thousands of gold coins and copper ingots.
Long-Lost Ship Found in the Desert Laden With Gold ...
Here's a more detailed look at some of the gold-laden shipwrecks:
Spanish Galleon San José:

Sank in 1708 during a battle with British warships.

Estimated to have carried 200 tons of gold, silver, and uncut gemstones.
Estimates of the ship's treasure range from a few billion dollars to over $20 billion.

                                      。☆✼★ ━  Ship Quotes       ━★✼☆

One ship drives east and other drives west by the same winds that blow. It's the set of the sails and not the gales that determines the way they go.

               。☆✼★ ━  Ship Quotes       ━★✼☆
A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder. If my ship sails from sight, it doesn't mean my journey ends, it simply means the river bends. I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning how to sail my ship. The ship of democracy, which has weathered all storms, may sink through the mutiny of those on board.
                 。☆✼★ ━ Fish Bones    ━★✼☆

The evolution of fish bones, specifically bony skeletons, started around 460 million years ago

with jaw less fish like Astraspis, where bone formed on top of existing cartilage. Later, bony fish (Osteichthyes) emerged in the late Silurian, around 419 million years ago, and are characterized by having a bony skeleton instead of cartilage. These bony fish eventually diversified and led to the evolution of other vertebrate features like limbs.

                                                    。☆✼★ ━History of the Life Ring  ━★✼☆

The life ring, also known as a life buoy or Kisbee Ring, has a long and fascinating history rooted in early attempts to aid drowning victims. Originally, life rings were simple devices made of materials like cork or balsa wood designed to be thrown to someone in distress. Over time, they evolved, with organizations like the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) playing a key role in standardizing their use and design

This Poem  i found say it All

The Ocean
By Nathaniel Hawthorne
The Ocean has its silent caves,
Deep, quiet, and alone;
Though there be fury on the waves,
Beneath them there is none.

The awful spirits of the deep
Hold their communion there;
And there are those for whom we weep,
The young, the bright, the fair.

Calmly the wearied seamen rest
Beneath their own blue sea.
The ocean solitude are blest,
For there is purity.

The earth has guilt, the earth has care,
Unquiet are its graves;
But peaceful sleep is ever there,
Beneath the dark blue waves.

We Welcome you to the Museum

MONOCLE MAN GALLERY Artist Of the Month Maurice Delacroix

Maurice Delacroix is a photographer who dares to explore the depths of sensuality, capturing it with a rare blend of intimacy and artistry. His work transcends mere imagery, drawing the viewer into a world where desire, vulnerability, and beauty converge.

As a freelance artist, Maurice has collaborated with many magazines and pose makers, creating striking visuals that evoke emotion and irresistible allure. At the heart of his creative journey is Heidi—his partner, muse, and kindred spirit. Together, in their studio, they craft images that are not just seen but felt, shaping a vision of sensuality that is both bold and deeply personal.

1. what brought you to second life?

I have seen a report on Second Life and it's creativity and was curious - so I joined and got hooked up

2. how long have you been doing art?

Honestly I don't really feel like an artist - there are people doing much more artful things - but I've started with RL photography with about 16 and always been taking photos since then.

3. tell us about your photo in your own words

I was fascintated by the topic and enjoyed a lot to create a Viking character - for me it was clear he has to be strong and powerful - so I've imagined it should be kind of an action shooting.

4. where are you from in rl?

I'm kinda a digital nomad and change my places quite frequently - well you could call me an European - from my sources I'm from South Germany and Switzerland

5. do you  rl photos?

Yes - almost every day - sometimes just for memories but often as well like more serious photography

6. would like to do an exbit at monocle man?

I think that would be awesome :-)

7. how  did you learn the basics in photos?

From the basics I have been a long time in a photographer circle and studied the different rules of composition and other stuff like that. In SL, mostly learning by doing - trying to play with all features SL (Firestorm) offers.

8. do you use photo editors what ones do you use?

Most of my captures are RAW images without any post processing - If needed I mostly use Gimp

9. do you  use  any  any special wind lights?

Usually I start with a day circle I made myself with different settings - and when I think I found one which matches I adjust it to the final settings.

10. who do you look up to in art?

There are a lot of artists which are impressing me - in Photography, like Don McCullin or Annie Leibovitz and others - in painting from Miro over Dali to Andy Warhol - actually there are also some really great artists here in SL - like Hermes Kondor or CountChanel

MONOCLE MAN GALLERY Artist Of the Month Calypso "Caly" Applewhyte.

My name is Calypso "Caly" Applewhyte.

In few words, I joined SL in February 2010.

After a few months without any specific goal,

I began exploring and decided to share

my favorite places by photographing

and sharing them.

My leitmotiv was "All is not necessarily beautiful

in SL, and what is, deserves to be

shown whenever possible".

I'm passionate about the avatar as a means of

expression.

Self-taught on Photoshop, and passionate about

avant-garde and dystopian fashion, I stage my

own character in minimalist settings to keep

only the essential... the emotion.

Many Of Cali amazing Photos

The evolution over time. I blog for a few brands

that I particularly like.

But when it comes to exhibiting in SL, I always try

to get out of the blogger mindset and bring an idea

of aesthetics in the art of photography by choosing

a common theme for all the photos in the exhibition.

I hope you will enjoy both my Flickr and exhibition works.

Warm regards,

Caly
